Privacy Policy
The Midnight Inn (App Store name: Midnight Inn Mysteries). Last updated October 12, 2026.
The Midnight Inn is made by MindKite Labs and published on the App Store by An Tran (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the game collects, why, and the choices you have. The short version: you can play the whole game as a guest without giving us any personal information. Everything below is optional or limited to players aged 13 and over.
Children
The game is not directed to children under 13. On first launch it asks for your age. If you say you are under 13, the game stays fully playable but switches to a private mode: no account or sign-in, no cloud save, no shop or purchases, no analytics, no crash reporting, no ads and no network requests to our servers or to Google. Progress stays on your device only. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, write to support@mindkitelabs.com and we will delete it.
What we collect (players 13 and over)
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Sign in with Apple or Google: provider account identifier (subject id) and your email address if you choose to share it | Only if you sign in. Signing in is optional. | To recognise your account and restore your cloud save on a new device. |
| Apple authorization token (kept only to revoke the sign-in when you delete your account) | Only if you sign in with Apple | Required by Apple to remove the sign-in link on deletion. |
| Cloud save: game progress (levels finished, candles, journal entries, tutorial progress, collected secrets) | Only if you sign in | To keep your progress across devices. It does not include your age answer, consent choices or settings. |
| Purchase ledger: store transaction id, product id and the time of the claim. For players who are not signed in, a random install id stored on the device is used instead of an account id. | When you buy candles or No ads | To verify purchases with Apple or Google, deliver them exactly once and unlock them again if you reinstall. We never see your card or payment details. |
| Usage analytics and crash reports through Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics: in-game events (for example level started or finished), app instance id, device model, OS version, app version, crash stack traces | Only for players 13+, and only when no consent is owed or you have agreed where the law requires a choice | To understand which levels are confusing and to fix crashes. |
| Rewarded ads through Google AdMob: IP address, device and advertising identifiers (the iOS advertising identifier only if you allow tracking), ad interaction data | Only when you choose to watch a rewarded ad (13+). Ads are never shown to players under 13. | To serve and measure the ad and pay the reward. Ads stay non-personalised until you allow personalisation. |
| Server logs: request time, route, status code, IP address as seen by our cloud provider | When the game talks to our server | Security, abuse prevention and debugging. Logs are kept for 30 days. |
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for anything other than the purposes listed here. We do not track you across other companies' apps ourselves; advertising identifiers are only used by Google AdMob as described and only according to your consent choices.
Your choices and consent
- Consent form. Where required (for example in the European Economic Area and the UK) the game shows Google's consent form before any analytics, crash reporting or personalised ads start. Until you answer, analytics and crash reporting stay off and ads are non-personalised.
- App Tracking Transparency. After a few levels the game explains and then asks, once, whether apps may track you for ads on iOS. If you decline, ads are non-personalised. You can change this any time in iOS Settings.
- Account. Signing in is optional and can be skipped forever.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the game: Amazon Web Services (our server and database, United States), Google (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, AdMob, Google sign-in), Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store purchase verification) and Google Play for Android purchases. They process data under their own privacy policies. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Retention and deletion
- In-app deletion. Open Settings, then "Delete account". This removes your account profile, linked sign-in identifiers, email, cloud save and purchase links from our database and revokes the Apple sign-in.
- After deletion, the store transaction id of past purchases is kept without any link to you, so that the same purchase cannot be claimed twice and refunds can be handled.
- Server logs are deleted after 30 days. Account data is otherwise kept until you delete the account.
- Analytics and crash data held by Google follow Google's Firebase retention settings (we use the shortest practical period). Deleting your account does not by itself erase data already in Google's analytics or ad systems; write to us and we will help with a request.
- Uninstalling the game removes local data from your device. Cloud data stays until you delete the account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to object to or restrict some processing. Use the in-app deletion, or write to support@mindkitelabs.com and we will answer within 30 days.
Security and transfers
Data is sent over HTTPS and stored encrypted at rest. No system is perfectly secure. Our servers are in the United States; by using the online features you accept that your data is processed there.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and, where required, tell you in the game.
